Permits

Do you need a permit to take photos in Houston parks?

Often, yes. City of Houston parks require a permit for professional photography, and conservancies like Memorial Park, the Houston Arboretum and Discovery Green have their own. Private places like town centers and master-planned communities set their own rules.

When you book with me, I check the rules for your location and tell you about any permit fee before you commit. You never have to sort it out yourself.

Timing

Golden hour in Houston

The softest light is the hour before sunset. In November and December that means starting around 4:15 PM. In summer, early mornings or the last hour of daylight keep everyone comfortable.

Holiday season

Holiday photo spots

Market Street in Lights in The Woodlands runs mid-November through December 31.

Dewberry Farm near Katy has professional photo days on November 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026.

Old Time Christmas Tree Farm in Spring takes photographer appointments.

Or keep it cozy at home. See holiday sessions.
