The spots

Where I like to shoot

Permit details checked October 2026. Rules and fees change, so I confirm with the venue before every booking.

Cinco Ranch

LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch

A walkable town center with fountains, storefronts and Heritage Square, which hosts a big tree for the holidays.

Permits: LaCenterra is private property, so I check their photography policy before scheduling.

Old Katy

Katy Historic Town Square

Historic buildings and a small-town feel. The city holds its tree lighting here in early December.

Permits: I confirm current rules with the City of Katy before booking.

Katy

Mary Jo Peckham Park

A lake, trees and open lawns. A relaxed, easygoing option for families.

Permits: City park. I confirm current rules with the City of Katy before booking.

Brookshire, about 25 minutes from Katy

Dewberry Farm

Real Christmas trees and farm scenery. For 2026 the farm has set aside professional photo days on November 7 and 8 and November 14 and 15, when it is closed to the public.

Permits: Professional sessions require an advance reservation with the farm and follow its rules on deposits and care for the trees.
